Passengers    1       2       3        4

The median is the central data element.

There are 100 taxis so there is no central element, therefore we need the average of the 50th and 51st element. The first 10 elements are all 1's; then we have 40 2's, so the 50th element is a 2.

The 51st element is 3. The median is the average of 2 and 3=2.5.
