first, according to order of operations we do what is in the parenthesis first:

( 4 x 2  +5)

(8+5)= 13

now rewrite it using this answer:

3x + 2 - 13

next according to order of operations, multiply 3x2

6+2-13  now since its all add/subtract according to order of operations just go from left to right

8-13= -5

-5 is your answer
