can you give me an example

if u mean like 2x+1=5

then you have to get x by itself to do this you have to subtract 1 from each side (what you do to one side you have to do to the other)

2x=4

now since 2 is multiplied by x to undo this you divide 2 (what you do to one side you do to the other)

2x/2=4/2

x=2
