g(x)=-2x2+2x-5,

g(x)=-2(x2-x)-5,

g(x)=-2(x2-x+¼-¼)-5,

g(x)=-2(x-½)2+½-5=-2(x-½)2-9/2,

g(x)+9/2=-2(x-½)2.

The vertex is at (½,-9/2).
