If Jordan ate J almonds. Half of this is J/2. 3 more than this is J/2+3=25.

So J/2=22, J=44. Jordan ate 44 almonds.

Another way to solve this is to work backwards.

25 is 3 more than half the almonds Jordan ate.

25-3=22 is half the almonds Jordan ate. (Subtract is the opposite from add)

Jordan ate twice as many almonds as this, so 2×22=44 almonds. (Double is the opposite from half)
