If one factor is x then the other is 20-x because their sum is 20.

Their product is x(20-x)=-2016,

20x-x2=-2016,

x2-20x=2016,

x2-20x+100=2116,

(x-10)2=2116=462,

x-10=±46, x=10+46=56, 10-46=-36.

The two numbers are 56 and -36 or -56 and 36.
