Two numbers multiplied equal 8 and when added equal 8

If the numbers are x and y:

x+y=xy=8, y=8/x, x+8/x=8,

x2+8=8x, x2-8x=-8,

x2-8x+16=8,

(x-4)2=8,

x-4=±√8=±2√2,

x=4+2√2 or 4-2√2, so y=4-2√2 or 4+2√2.

The two numbers are 4+2√2=6.8284 approx and 4-2√2=1.1716 approx.
