9.5(3x-2)-4.3x=⅕x+⅗. Don't be put off by the fractions and decimals! ⅕x=2x/10=0.2x; ⅗=6/10=0.6.

28.5x-19-4.3x=0.2x+0.6, bring all the x's together on the left:

28.5x-4.3x-0.2x-19=0.6,

28.5x-4.5x-19=0.6,

24x-19=0.6, add 19 to each side:

24x=19.6, divide both sides by 24:

x=19.6/24=196/240 (multiplying top and bottom by 10 to get rid of the decimal), now divide top and bottom by 4, which is a common factor:

x=49/60 won't cancel any further so this is the answer.

This can be expressed in decimal form but only approximately: x=0.8167 approx. or as recurring decimal:

x=0.816̇. The dot over 6 means x=0.81666... indefinitely.

BUT:

9.5(3x-2)-4.3=⅕x+⅗ has a different solution (the question title has a missing x).

28.5x-19-4.3=0.2x+0.6,

28.5x-0.2x=19+4.3+0.6=23.9,

28.3x=23.9,

x=23.9/28.3=239/283.
