Can someone explain how to find the y-intercept of an equation that is not in slope intercept form?  Do I have to convert to the equation to a slope intercept equation or is there a y intercept formula I can use to find the answer?  Here is the problem I am working on

5x -4y = -20?

i remember it like this: y int is when x=0

x int is when y=0

substitute x=0 and solve.

  -4y=-20

y=5

y int: 5
