This can be factored as (x-1)(4x+3)(x^2+2)

we can take the first two terms, set them to 0 and solve them for x to find the real roots.

x-1=0

add 1

x=1

4x+3=0

subtract 3

4x=-3

divide by 4

x=-3/4
