11y + 3y - (18y + 2y) = 30
11y + 3y - 18y - 2y = 30 {took out parentheses, distributing negative sign}
-12y = 30 {combined like terms}
y = 30/-12 {divided both sides by -12}
y = -5/2 {reduced}
