the "gradient" is the slope, also kalled the tangent or the grade

strate line tween 2 points...(-2,1) & (6,-3)

deltax=6-(-2)=8

deltay=-3 -1 =-4

slope=delty / deltax

=-4/8 =-1/2 =-0.5
