Its for Percent Word problems. Pre-algrebra adv.  there is a easier way of doing it not by using algebraic exressions. shiva spent 40% of his money on books and 50% of the remainder on toys. Had $21 left. How much money did Shiva have at first? here is the questions again. because the question on the top max. 100 words so

he spent half of the reminder and had 21 left so 21 x 2 = 42$

and he spent 40% of something and had 42 left so you divide 42 by .4

42/.4 = 105$
