How do i solve 60=-12(n)?
This is a bit tricky but here it goes!
First of all -12 is next to n. Meaning -12 * n. n does NOT like -12 it wants it to go AWAY which will leave n by itself.
Because -12 * n we want to do the opposite. We have multiplicaiton so the opposite of this is DIVISION. In fact we will divide BOTH sides of the equation (Both sides of the equals sign) by -12.
This is what it will look like:
60 / -12 = -12(n) / -12
It's a bit hard to explain on the computer without correct bars but...
60 / -12 You can solve with a calculator. 60 Divide by -12
-12(n) / -12 Is now just n.
Heres why. Any number on top that is the same as the number on the bottom = 1 So you are saying 1 * n. Which is n. In fact any time there is like numbers on the top and bottom we cross them out. This is called canceling.
So what we have is:
60 / -12 = n Though its written always letter first.
n = 60 / -12 If you haven't solve for (60 / -12)
Check
60 = -12 (60 / -12 answer)
I hope this helps and is not too confusing.
