4(2y-6) + 3(6y+3)

Take one bracket at a time

Start with 4(2y-6)

The 4 is outside of the bracket, so you times everything on the inside of the bracket by that number

4x2 = 8

And 4x6 = 24

So 4(2y-6) = 8y-24

And the second bracket is 3(6y+3)

Do the same thing and times everything on the inside of the bracket by the number of the inside

3x6 = 18

3x3 = 9

So 3(6y+3) = 18y+9

Now you have the total equation of 8y - 24 + 18y + 9

All numbers that have a "y" behind it add together

So 8y+18y = 26y

And all the numbers that don't also add together

So -24+9 (or 9-24) = -15

Now you are left with 26y-15
