2x^2 + 2x - 12
= 2(x^2 + x - 6)
= 2(x^2 + 3x - 2x - 6)
= 2((x^2 + 3x) - (2x + 6))
= 2(x(x + 3) - 2(x + 3))
= 2(x - 2)(x + 3)
