Combine like terms on each side of the = mark.

4y + 3 = 2y + 10

-4y       -4y

3 = -2y + 10

-10       -10

-7 = -2y

Divide by -2 to get y by itself

-7/-2 = -2y/-2

3 1/2 = y: y= 3 1/2
by
4y + 3 = 2y + 10

-3                 -3     Subtract 3 from both sides

4y       = 2y + 7

-2y              -2y   Subtract 2y from both sides

2y       = 7

/2y                /2y  divide by 2y on both sides

    Y     =  3.5
by
4y+3 = 2y+10

subtract 3 from both the sides

which gives us 4y = 2y+7

subtract 2y from both sides

which gives us 2y = 7

divide it by 2y

which gives us y = 3.5

Y = 3.5
