If f(x)=√(2-2x), f(-4)=√(2-(-8))=√10; f(4)=√(2-8)=√-6=i√6 where i is the imaginary square root of -1.

If f(x)=(√2)-2x, f(-4)=8+√2; f(4)=-8+√2.
