NEED HELP WITH A WORD PROBLEM!!!

the sum of 3x a 1st # and 2x a 2nd # is 43. If the second # is subtracted from twice the first #, the result is -4. Find the numbers?

me interpret yer werds tu sae:

line 1: 3x+2y=43

line 2: 2x-y=-4 or y=2x+4

line 1: 3x +2(2x+4)=43

3x+4x+8=43

7x=43-8=35

x=35/7=5

y=2x+4=14
