John drove from St. Louis to Kansas City in 5.5 hours.  On return, he increased his speed by 10mph and the return took 4.5 hours.  Find distance from St. Louis to Kansas City and find the speed on return trip.

distance going=distance returning

r = speed going

5.5r =4.5(r+10)

5.5r =4.5r +45

r=45

5.5(45) =247.7 miles from STL to Kansas City

r+10=55 mph return trip speed
