The basic function is y=x which is a straight line passing through the origin (0,0) and inclined at an angle of 45° to both axes. The coefficient 2 in the given function y=2x+5 changes the slope to 2, which is roughly 63° to the x-axis. As well as changing the slope the line moves upwards 5 units, so it intersects both axes.
