my daughter in 3 grade brought this worksheet home to round numbers to the nearest tens and hundreds and one problem is to round 78 to nearest hundred

78 is the same thing as 078.

The 0 is in the hundreds place.  The next digit over (7) is greater than or equal to 5, so the 0 rounds up.
