Problem: (6x -8) - (5x + 9) = 3 solve for x.
Please need help with this.

(6x - 8) - (5x + 9) = 3
6x - 8 - 5x - 9 = 3
x - 17 = 3
x - 17 + 17 = 3 + 17
x = 20

Check it.

(6x -8) - (5x + 9) = 3
(6(20) -8) - (5(20) + 9) = 3
(120 - 8) - (100 + 9) = 3
112 - 109 = 3
3 = 3

Answer: x = 20
