Do you mean f(x)=x2-6?

If so we start with the general equation of a parabola: f(x)=a(x-h)2+k where (h,k) is the vertex point.

Since a(x-h)2+k=x2-6, a=1, h=0, k=-6, making the vertex (0,-6).
