I read this as x=(a+3)/(2a-1).

2x+1=2(a+3)/(2a-1)+1=(2a+6+2a-1)/(2a-1)=(4a+5)/(2a-1).

3x+1=3(a+3)/(2a-1)+1=(3a+9+2a-1)/(2a-1)=(5a+8)/(2a-1).

(2x+1)/(3x+1)=(4a+5)/(5a+8).
