Step 1) Take HCF(Highest common factor) of all the terms in the expression.

Step 2) Divide each term with the HCF

Step 3) Multiply the remainder with HCF

example:

2x + 4y

Step1) HCF of 2 and 4 is 2

Step2) 2x/2 + 4y/2

or x+2y

Step 3) 2*(x+2y)
