The children from a football club put into rows in the sports hall when put in rows of 6 children there are three children left over when put in rows of 8 children there are three children leftover what is the least number of children in this Football Club?

Let n be the number of children, n=6a+3 and n=8b+3, where a and b are numbers of rows. So 6a+3=8b+3, 6a=8b, 3a=4b, or a/b=4/3 so a=4 and b=3.

Therefore n=27, the minimum number of children.
