to add fractions you have to get to a common denominator( bottom number on the fraction). so in your case you would have to get the 7 to a 14. so all you have to do in this one is multiple 7 times 2. you will get 14 on the bottom. but whatever you do to the bottom you have to do to the top. so you also have to multiply 3 times 2 and you get 6, so you would have 6/14 + 1/14. then all you do is add the top numbers together and leave the bottom number alone. so in your case you would have 7/14. if you simplify that you will have 1/2
