I have the answer x = a(1+y) / a-y but can't get to that, I always get y-1 on the bottom of the right side? Can anyone show me how to get the book's answer?

Multiply both sides by x-a:

xy-ay=x+a,

x(y-1)=a+ay,

x=(a+ay)/(y-1)=a(y+1)/(y-1).
