x=4x²-x+(-4)=4x²-x-4.

So 4x²-2x-4=0 when we subtract x from each side.

Now divide through by 2: 2x²-x-2=0. We can use the quadratic formula to solve for x:

x=(1±√(1+16)/4=(1±√17)/4=1.2808 or -0.7808 approx.
