-3x + y = -2
y = x + 6

Substitute from the 2nd equation, into the 1st equation.

This gives,

-3x + (x + 6) = -2

Now rearrange.

-3x + x = -2 - 6

-2x = -8

x = 4

Substituting for x = 4 into the equation, y = x + 6, then

y = 10

Answer: x = 4, y = 10
