I assume this is meant to read (z-24)/4=-23. Multiply both sides by 4: z-24=-92, add 24 to each side: z=-68.

This can also be solved by the Do-Undo method.

If Do is divide then Undo is multiply, if Do is subtract then Undo is add.

The last operation on the left-hand side is divide, so the first operation on the right-hand side is multiply. So we multiply -23 by 4 to get -92. The next operation on the left is subtract 24 so we take -92 and add 24 to get -68. There are no more operations, so z=-68. 

Do: z→Take away 24→Divide result by 4→-23 so Undo: -23→Multiply by 4=-92→Add 24→-68→z
