first you need to multiply the -4 thru the (x+2), now you have:

-4x-8-x-3=3x-43, now you need to add like terms such as your -4x+(-x) and -8+(-3)

so that we have

-5x-11=3x-43, now move your x variables (including the numbers that is with the x) to one side of the equation, and the whole numbers to the other side of the equation like this: whatever you do on one side of the equation (equal sign) you have to do one the other.

-5x-11=3x-43

+(+5x+43=+5x+43)

22=8x, now x needs to be by its self so divide by 8 so your number that is with x is 1

22/8=x

simplified x=11/4
