Synthetic division:

2 | 3 -8  0   9   54

     3  6 -4  -8     2

     3 -2 -4   1 | 56 = 3x^3-2x^2-4x+1 rem 56.

(NOTE: By putting x=2 into the original equation we get 3*16-8*8+9*2+54=56 which is the remainder according to the Remainder Theorem.)
