I am only allowed to use six 1's and come up w/ an equation that equals 16 and 17.  I can add, subtract, divide and multiply.  I am not allowed to use exponents but parenthesis are allowed. What are the 2 equations I can use for the answers to equal 16 and 17?

If the ones are simply vertical lines, three can be arranged (rotated) to make the number 4. So make two 4s and multiply them together to get 16.

To make the number 17, rotate three vertical lines then multiply the remaining ones: 17×1×1×1=17.
