The rules of differentiation: derivative of ax^n, where a is a constant, is nax^(n-1). So applying this rule to each term we get: 3x^2+4x because the derivative of a constant is zero (n=0, so derivative of ax^0=0). The + or - operators are unaffected by differentiation.
