what is the equation when the slope 8/9, passing through (2,-8)

The equation of a straight line passing through the two points (x1, y1), (x2, y2) is given by

(y - y1) / (x - x1) = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - 1)

where the quotient (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) is called the slope, m.

Since we have the slope m = 8,9, then

(y - y1) / (x - x1) = 8/9

Using the point (x1, y1) = (2, - 8)

(y - (-8)) / (x - 2) = 8/9

(y + 8) / (x - 2) = 8/9

y + 8 = (8/9)*(x - 2)

y + 8 = (8/9)x - 16/9

y = (8/9)x -16/9 - 8

y = (8/9)x - 88/9

y = (8/9)x - 9 7/9

Given slope m = 8/9,
passing through (x,y) = (2,-8)
y=mx+b
2=8/9 (-8)+b
b=82/9
y=8/9x+82/9
