select ALL the expressions that are equivalent to 3x + 5 ( -4x + 12 ) - ( x - 3 )

Expanding the brackets gives us,

3x - 20x + 60 - x + 3  <-- this is the same as C.

Now add together the x-terms and the constants

(3x - 20x - x) + (60 + 3)

Simplify the above

-18x + 63   <-- this is the same as A.

Answer: Both options A. and C. are equivalent to the original expression
