If the radio boys to girls is 2:3 you can solve the problem with equivalent fractions:

2/3 = 8/x , to be equivalent you have to multiply the numerator and denominator by the same number, which for this case has to be 4.

So x= 3*4 =12

2/3 = 8/12

The answer is: if there are 8 boys , there are 12 girls.
