n increased by 5.2 is equal to 13

Let's convert the english into mathspeak.

n increased by 5.2: we can write this as, n + 5.2

equal to 13: we can write this as, = 13

Putting the two writings together,

n + 5.2 = 13

now subtract 5.2 from both sides.

n + 5.2 - 5.2 = 13 - 5.2

now do the math ( I mean do the arithmetic/add the numbers)

n = 7.8

Answer: n = 7.8
