 y=2x-6;y=3x-8

Solution :

 {y,x} = {-2,2}

System of Linear Equations entered :

  [1] y - 2x = -6   [2] y - 3x = -8

Graphic Representation of the Equations :

-2x + y = -6 -3x + y = -8

Solve by Substitution :

// Solve equation [2] for the variable  y

[2] y = 3x - 8

// Plug this in for variable  y  in equation [1]

  [1] (3x-8) - 2x = -6   [1] x = 2

// Solve equation [1] for the variable  x

  [1] x = 2

// By now we know this much :

  y = 3x-8   x = 2

// Use the  x  value to solve for  y

  y = 3(2)-8 = -2

Solution :

 {y,x} = {-2,2}
