Problem: 6z-6=-12-9z
how do I solve/ is the answer negative 2

6z - 6 = -12 - 9z
6z - 6 + 9z = -12 - 9z + 9z
15z - 6 = -12
15z - 6 + 6 = -12 + 6
15z = -6
15z/15 = -6/15
z = -2/5

Always check your work.

6z - 6 = -12 - 9z
6(-2/5) - 6 = -12 - 9(-2/5)
-12/5 - 6 = -12 + 18/5

Change the whole numbers to fractions.

-12/5 - 6(5/5) = -12(5/5) + 18/5
-12/5 - 30/5 = -60/5 + 18/5
-42/5 = -42/5

There is no need to reduce the fractions, we
just want both sides of the equation to be equal.
They are, so the answer is correct.

Answer: z = -2/5
