writing equations from patterns

Need to write an equation using f(x) with the following data:

{(1,2), (2,4), (3,8), (4,16), (5,32)}

So f(x)=?

f(x) is a sequence of powers of 2, so f(x)=2^x.

Comments

This works for all the listed ordered pairs. Remember it's 2 to the power of x not 2 times x, where x is the first value of the ordered pairs. 2*2 is the same as 2+2; but 2*2*2 is not the same as 2+2+2.
