You have $30 to spend on picking 24 pounds of  different types of fruit. The apples cost $1.40 per pound, blueberries cost $.90 per pound and cherries cost $1.10 per pound.  I want twice as many pounds of apples as the other 2 fruits combined.

Apples are $1.40/lb   --  weight of apples = A lbs   --   cost of apples = A*(1.40)

Blueberries are $1.40/lb   --  weight of blueberries = B lbs --   cost of blueberries = B*(0.90)

Cherries are $1.40/lb   --  weight of Cherries = A lbs --   cost of cherries = C*(1.10)

Our system of equations is;

A + B + C + 24   --  total weight

A.(1.40) + b.(0.90) + c.(1.10) = 30.00   --  total cost

A = 2,(B + C)   --  weight of A is twice weight of other two fruits combined.

if you wish to check your answer, it is: A = 16, B = 6, C = 2
