You need to use the formula :

P= (2L+2W)

The information given is:

P=240

W= Width

L= W +64

Your equation should be written:

240 = 2W(2W+64)

240 = 4W+128

Subtract  128 from both sides

112 + 4W

Divide both by 4

W = 28

L = 28 + 64, which is 92

Answer: The width of the rectangle is 28 in, the length of the rectangle is 92 in.

   Checkpoint: 28 + 28 + 92 + 92 = 240
