Draw a vertical dotted line at x = -2.
Draw another vertical dotted line at x = 3.

Shade the entire region between these two vertical lines and you will have -2 < x < 3.

If you are doing this on a number line, draw a empty circle above x = -2 and x = 3.
Then draw a straight horizontal line between the two circles and you are done.
