The profit equation is P(q)=-q^3+24q^2+266q-2000, and I have to find which value of q the profit is maximized at.

This would be on a calculator; so whack it out and put it straight into it (if your calculator supports this - mine does!)

The results are

x=30.56232623

x=5.448446054

x=-12.01077229

so put these values of x into the equation and select the one that gives the highest result.  (note: its the first one i think)
