To go to fraction form we must get rid of the decimal. In this case I see we have the decimal .5 and we know if we double it, we get 1, so the decimal disappears. If we double 17.5 we get 35, but we must also double the divisor 3 making it 6. Now do 35/6, an improper fraction. We can divide to get 5 5/6.
