Multiply both equations through by 2: 4x-2y=2; x+2y=4. Add these equations together: 5x=6, so x=6/5 or 1.2. Substitute x=6/5 in 2x-y=1: 12/5-y=1, so y=12/5-1=7/5 or 1.4. Solution: x=6/5 or 1.2 and y=7/5 or 1.4.

Given 2(x) - y = 1.......(1)
and x/2 + y =2........(2)

From equation (1)
x=(1+y)/2

Substitute in equation (2)
[(1+y)/2]/2 + y =2
y=7/5

And
x=6/5
