since y = -(x-1) + 6 and y = 2x + 4 you can set them = to each other

-(x-1) + 6 = 2x + 4

-x + 1 + 6 = 2x + 4

-x + 7 = 2x + 4

subtract 2x from both sides

-3x + 7 = 4

subtract 7 from both sides

-3x = -3

divide both sides by -3 and x = 1.  Plug x= 1 into either equation to solve for y

2(1) + 4 so y=6

solution (1,6)
